Collagen wound dressings overcome barriers to wound closure while maintaining an optimal moist wound environment.
Collagen wound dressing made of collagen, sodium alginate, carboxylmethylcellulose (CMC), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). The dressing maintains a moist wound environment at the wound surface that aids in the formation of granulation tissue and epithelialization. The EDTA in the dressing removes zinc to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), thus creating a suitable environment for wound healing. Collagen inactivates excess MMP and is biodegradable to provide nutrition for wounds.
1. High gel integrity helps maintaining an optimal moist wound environment;
2. EDTA and collagen dually reduce MMP levels in wounds.
Indicated for management of full and partial thickness wounds including: pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, ulcers caused by mixed vascular aetiologies, venous ulcers, donor and graft sites, abrasions, traumatic wounds healing by secondary intention, dehisced surgical wounds, first and secondary degree burns.
