The Difference Between the Medical Bandage and Gauze

Both medical bandage and medical gauze are disposable medical consumables, with the function of isolating wounds and preventing infections. In practical use, medical bandages and medical gauze are still different. Here is the difference between medical bandages and medical gauze.

Ⅰ. Medical bandage

Medical bandages are mainly divided into gauze bandages and elastic bandages. They are mainly used to wrap wounds and prevent wound from infection, applied in surgery, orthopedics, varicose veins of the lower extremities, prevention of blood circulation caused by swelling of the limbs, and swelling diseases after the removal of the extremity fracture plaster.

2. Elastic bandage: mainly used for retention bandaging of patients with varicose veins of the lower extremities and orthopedics to improve blood circulation and prevent swelling of the limbs. It can also replace the multi-head abdominal band after surgery and can be used for compression bandaging of different parts of the human body or general wound bandaging.

Precautions for the selection and use of medical bandages: Firstly, they are generally sold as non-sterile medical products. When using a medical bandage on the wound site, you should use it separately from the wound. Secondly, when choosing a medical bandage, look at the appearance of the product. The product should be white, free of macula, pollution, serious damage or broken wires.

Ⅱ. Medical gauze

Medical gauze refers to degreasing gauze, which needs high-temperature disinfection and chlor-oxygen double bleaching, mainly used for medical supplies, etc. It is necessary to purchase regular medical gauze. The packaging is sterile before leaving the factory. As long as the packaging is intact and the expiration date has not passed, it is safe to use, but it should be noted that after opening the package, the product is considered to be bacteria-carrying. Yellow gauze, or oil gauze, not only has the function of disinfecting the wound. The medicine on it has the functions of astringent, anti-inflammatory and preventing the adhesion of the gauze to the wound. Ordinary disinfecting gauze does not have these effects. If there is exudation on the wound, using ordinary gauze will stick the gauze and the flesh and blood together, and will cause the wound to bleed again when it is removed.
