Technical Index and Knowledge of Medical Gauze Strips

Ⅰ. Basic requirements of medical gauze strips

The base material of the medical gauze strip is medical degreased gauze, which should meet relevant standards and requirements. Gauze strips should be soft, odorless, and tasteless. Gauze strips should be folded flat without rough edges, stubble, exposed, and loose thread residue. Medical gauze strips can be divided into folded edge gauze strips, unfolded edge gauze strips, flat gauze strips, galling gauze strips, snipped gauze strips, and gauze strips with developing lines and without developing lines. 1. English yarn number

It refers to the multiples of 840 yards of 1 pound yarn length at constant moisture regain. That is, a pound of yarn is exactly 840 yards long, which is 1 yarn. 1 pound of yarn is 21 × 840 yards long. The yarn number is 21, and it is written as 21s. English yarn number adopts the length based system, so the larger the number is, the finer the yarn is. English yarn number is still widely used in enterprises, especially in the cotton textile industry.

2. Metric yarn number

It refers to the multiples of 1 gram of yarn length in meters at constant moisture regain. That is, 1 gram of yarn is exactly 1 meter long, which is 1 (matric) yarn. The length of 1 gram yarn is 200 meters, and the fineness is 200 yarns. The metric yarn number wound packing gauze strip also adopts the length based system, so the larger the number is, the finer the yarn is. Metric yarn number is widely used in cotton textile and wool textile industries.

3. Tex count

It is also known as "Tex", referring to the weight of 1000 meters of yarn in grams at constant moisture regain. It is a unit of fixed length. The greater the gram is, the thicker the yarn is. It is used to describe wool yarn.

4. Fineness

It is also known as denier, referring to the weight of 9000 meters of yarn or fiber in grams at constant moisture regain, such as 100D. It is also a unit of fixed length. The greater the gram is, the thicker the yarn is. It is generally used to describe chemical fiber, filament, silk, etc.

5. Yarn number

One pound (453.5 grams) of cotton spun into an 840 yard yarn is one yarn. And it is ten yarns if one pound (453.5 grams) of cotton spun into an 8400 yard yarn. The more the yarn number is, the finer the yarn is, and the better the quality of the cotton fiber is. The yarn number of gauze strips are 21, 32, 38, 42, 46, 60S/2, etc. S/2 is the mark of a double strand. The more the yarn number is, the better the quality is.
